New beginnings: With a new sports director, a new head coach and new playmakers, ALBA BERLIN is ready for the 2016/2017 season!
41-year old Turk Ahmet Caki is taking over Sasa Obradovic’s role as head coach of the team. With Engin Atsür, Peyton Siva and Bogdan Radosavljevic, a number of new players have been confirmed to join the team by sports director Himar Ojeda. At the same time, regulars such as Elmedin Kikanovic, Niels Giffey and Akeem Vargas will continue to wear the ALBA BERLIN jersey in the 2016/2017 season.
This year, ALBA BERLIN will compete in both the BBL and the Eurocup, Europe's second highest international league.
With a total of nine German Cups and the win of the pan-European Korac Cup in 1995, ALBA BERLIN is one of the most successful basketball clubs in Germany. In 2008, ALBA BERLIN won its eighth German Championship.
ALBA BERLIN is the only BBL team that has won a game against an NBA team. On 8 October 2014, as part of the NBA Global Games, ALBA beat reigning NBA champion San Antonio Spurs 94:93 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin.
